Introduction

Hello Readers,
Welcome to Safety Talk, a blog about worker safety and going home alive. I have been working in the trades for about 14 years now and have seen a lot of unsafe acts, and avoidable injuries. I myself have suffered from carpal tunnel and have had four surgeries on my wrists so I understand the kind of stress a work related injury can have on a person, their family and their relationship with employers. Lets talk about how we can make our place of work a safer place so we can all go home in the same condition we showed up for work in.

  2. Workplaces should have safety policies in place that provide protection for their employees in case of an accident occurring. This is where workers' compensation comes in to play.

I also have a relative who had to leave her job due to a workplace injury. She did receive workers' compensation while she was out of work but she also ended up losing her job since she was out of work for a long period of time. This resulted in a long dragged out lawsuit.

  3. It is sad but employers can fire you after 12 weeks on workers comp.

  4. Dental hygienists often have problems with carpal tunnel and need to do exercises to keep their hands, wrists and arms in good working condition. There are many jobs that can benefit from your blog and the information you are sharing. Thanks! C. Callaghan
